You can get to Ungdomsøen by ferry, by RIB boat or in your own boat.

By ferry from Nyhavn

The ferry sails from Nyhavn Tuesday to Sunday.
From May to October, you book your tickets at www.sparshipping.dk.
From October to May, sailing is arranged with the Ungdomsøen booking team at booking@ungdomsoen.dk.
The trip takes 30 minutes.

The fast way
The fast way to Ungdomsøen is by RIB boat. RIB stands for Rigid Inflatable Boat, and these fast inflatable boats reach speeds of up to 60 knots (110 km/h). With a RIB trip, you and your friends are guaranteed pumping adrenaline and wind in your hair. The trip is booked through our partner Actionboat.dk.

The do-it-yourself trip
You can sail to Ungdomsøen yourself in your sailing boat, motorboat, kayak, canoe, rowing boat, on your paddleboard or whatever else you use to get around on the water. Visiting Ungdomsøen in your own boat is free for all young people aged 30 and under. Read about the harbour on the Sailors page here on the website.

Mad og drikke på øen

At Ungdomsøen, young people are welcome to bring packed lunches and food to cook themselves. We have free gas grills and outdoor kitchens you can borrow. And you can rent fire pits and fire kits. You can buy firewood in our kiosk if you want to cook over a fire.

In the Ungdomsøen kiosk, you can buy snacks and drinks such as coffee, soft drinks, beer and wine. You can also borrow lawn games and get information about Ungdomsøen here.

You are not allowed to bring your own drinks. Drinks can be bought in the kiosk.

Aktiviteter

We have 70,000 adventurous square metres for you to explore. You can do activities on your own – for example, take a dip and warm up in the sauna, explore Ungdomsøen or go to the kiosk and borrow our lawn games, island tours or other free activities – but you can also book Ungdomsøen's young people to give you and your friends a special experience with one of our hosted activities. COMPETITION, ACTIVE, TEAMWORK

Are you ready for battle?! At Ungdomsøen, you can go to war in an old sea fort. In two teams, you compete with laser guns in the fort's underground passages. Find out who has the best aim and which team has the best tactics in a wild game of Capture the Flag. With adrenaline pumping, you explore the best hiding places in the old fort while training team spirit and collaboration. The activity takes place indoors.

Number of people: minimum 10 and maximum 35.

Price per person: DKK 105 for young people / DKK 150 for people over 30.

The activity usually lasts 1 to 1.5 hours.

Island Tour: Get to Know Each Other Better

EXPLORE THE ISLAND, DIALOGUE, COMMUNITY

Want to get to know each other a little better? This island tour is perfect for you! This is a dialogue-based walk-and-talk inspired activity suited for all ages. During the tour, you’ll be asked a series of questions designed to reveal new sides of each other. By the end of the tour, you’ll have learned more about one another in a fun and unique way. The island tour takes place outdoors.

The activity was developed by young people from Brandbjerg Højskole and Ungdomsøen’s community.

Group size: As many as you like

Price: Free

Duration: Approximately 1 hour

Materials for the island tour can be picked up at the kiosk.

The Music Studio

MUSIC, SOUND, IMMERSION

Does your band need a place to record your next project? Do you have a podcast idea that you want to bring to life? Or do you just need a place to immerse yourself in sound? The music studio is open to all young people — completely free of charge.

The Library

Explore the island’s library, curated and filled with literature chosen by young people. The Library is open for everyone to use, and it also works as a great hangout on a rainy day and a cozy space for study groups or board game competitions.

When is Ungdomsøen open?

The harbour is open every day, and the quay is staffed from 9.00 to 18.00. There may be occasional exceptions if guests have booked the entire island.

How do we get to Ungdomsøen?

You can take a SparShipping ferry from Nyhavn, book a RIB boat trip or sail yourselves. From May to October, book your ferry tickets directly at www.sparshipping.dk. From October to May, write to booking@ungdomsoen.dk to hear about sailing times and prices and to book your trip.

Can I buy food?

You cannot buy groceries at Ungdomsøen, but in our kiosk on the quay you will find a large selection of snacks, cold drinks and light meals such as instant noodles, crisps and porridge. Larger groups can also pre-order food prepared by our chef no later than 14 days before their trip.

How much does it cost to visit Ungdomsøen?

It is free to visit Ungdomsøen. If you come in your own boat, you pay a harbour fee if you are over 30. If you come by ferry, you pay for a ferry ticket. If you want to stay overnight or use the meeting and/or kitchen facilities at Ungdomsøen, there is an extra charge. Why are prices higher for people over 30?

Because we are a Youth Island, created and developed by, with and for young people. To make Ungdomsøen as accessible to young people as possible, prices at Ungdomsøen differ. This means that young people get a 30% discount on almost everything you can buy or book at Ungdomsøen. If you are over 30, you help make it possible for many more young people to visit and use Ungdomsøen. We call it the Ungdomsøen Robin Hood model.

How big is Ungdomsøen?

Ungdomsøen is around 70,000 square metres including the harbour. That is roughly the size of ten football pitches. We have 53,500 square metres outdoors (about eight football pitches) and 16,500 square metres indoors (about two football pitches). But that can be hard to picture, so here is a quick overview of walking times: It takes 10 to 15 minutes to walk around the whole island along the outer perimeter, where the campsite is, about 5 minutes to get from the quay to Hangar C, and on average about 2 minutes to get from the quay to most of the rooms inside the fort.

What can you do at Ungdomsøen?

Ungdomsøen is a platform for experiences where young people bring the content themselves. That means you can do more or less anything at Ungdomsøen. You can come up with your own exciting activities, or you can take a look at our range of activities on the "Activities at Ungdomsøen" page.

Can I swim?

Yes! Just be aware that you swim at your own risk. There is no lifeguard at Ungdomsøen, but there are lifebuoys and illuminated rescue ladders all the way around the harbour. Please swim at the end of the harbour basin with the diving boards – that is where there is least boat traffic.

Can we stay overnight at Ungdomsøen?

Yes! There are several ways to stay overnight at Ungdomsøen. You can book a dormitory for up to 10 people, rent a shelter for up to 8 people or book a pitch at our campsite. See all the options on the "Accommodation" page here on the website.

Can I make a fire at Ungdomsøen?

Yes, as much as you like! As long as you follow the Ungdomsøen rules for open fires: fires may be lit in the large fire pits at the campsite and in the sunken fire pits in front of Ungdomsøen's shelters. If you want to make a fire elsewhere, you can rent a fire pit in the kiosk. You can also rent other fire equipment. You need to bring your own firewood or buy it in the kiosk. Ask the Ungdomsøen staff if you want to make a fire or rent fire pits and other equipment.
