Map of Ungdomsøen

Ungdomsøen is set in the historic Middelgrundsfort.

Ungdomsøen is wild, untamed and made for getting lost. We hope you will go exploring, get lost, say hi to a stranger – and come and meet us in the kiosk on the quay if you want to hear about the islanders and our history or need something to eat and drink.

You can always write to us at info@ungdomsoen.dk if you have any questions. Enjoy your visit.

Mød os i kiosken

You can always come to us in the kiosk on the quay, which is open from 9.00 to 21.00.

In an emergency involving injuries, call 112. Say that you are at Ungdomsøen, Middelgrundsfortet 1.

Bringing your own food and drink

You may not bring your own drinks to Ungdomsøen, but you will find a large selection of delicious drinks in our kiosk to quench your thirst. Small private groups of fewer than 10 people, schools, youth organisations and young people are welcome to bring packed lunches or a picnic basket to Ungdomsøen, but private parties, birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties, events and business guests may not bring their own catering. Catering for your event can be ordered from our skilled island chef.

Take care of our island

Ungdomsøen is a place we share. It is a platform for developing the future and, at the same time, a historic monument that we need to take good care of. So think carefully when you use Ungdomsøen, and do not scratch, draw on or mark walls, concrete, stone or other surfaces. Always remember to put your rubbish in the bins.

Do not walk on the slopes

The slopes were built so that the enemy would fall down them. So always stay on the right side of the fence so you do not risk falling and hurting yourself.

Do not walk out on the breakwaters

Do not walk out on the breakwaters, as they are narrow and slippery. That is how you best look after yourselves and each other.

Clean up after yourself

We are happy you visited and can feel from the good atmosphere that you have been here, so you do not need to leave rubbish or tags for us to remember you. We always clean up after ourselves here at Ungdomsøen, and rubbish must go in the bins and must not be buried or burned. If you do not clean up or cut corners, Ungdomsøen has to hire extra cleaning. Extra cleaning costs a lot of money that we would much rather spend on great activities for you.

Tell the staff if you are staying overnight at Ungdomsøen

If you want to sleep at Ungdomsøen, you must always let the kiosk know. The kiosk can also tell you where you can put up tents and bivouacs.

Your belongings are your responsibility

Look after your tent and your belongings. Ungdomsøen accepts no responsibility for items that are lost, stolen or broken.

Only light fires in the fixed fire pits

You can buy firewood in the kiosk. The kiosk can also tell you where you can light a fire.

No fire indoors

You may not have open fires or use storm lanterns, torches or similar indoors.

Ungdomsøen's machines, equipment and tools are not toys

There is always something going on at Ungdomsøen. So if you see a golf cart, some tools or a boat on your way, leave them alone and be glad that volunteers are busy helping guests or building their dream project at Ungdomsøen.

Not everyone wants to be in your story

Think about who you take photos, videos and other recordings of, and remember to ask permission before you share.

You are welcome to swim at Ungdomsøen

Before you jump into the big blue, read our rules for swimming and water activities. You will find the rules on the beach and in the kiosk

Say "hi" to people you don't know

Ungdomsøen is truly open. We want to create encounters across groups, and we expect our guests to be (truly) open to that. In practice, this means you are not alone at Ungdomsøen. There will be many different groups, each with their own purpose, and it is natural to say hello and be curious about the other guests at Ungdomsøen.

You must obey the law … of course

In general, you must of course obey Danish law and follow instructions from Ungdomsøen staff and volunteers. You may be asked to leave if you break Danish law or refuse to cooperate with Ungdomsøen staff.
